Patti is the smallest of Monty Don Dogs to feature as a Dogs from Gardeners’ World
She is a Yorkshire Terrier she was born on 05 April 2019 and first appeared on Gardeners’ World in April 2020.
Even though she comes across as more of a ‘lap dog’, Patti has a bossy streak and likes to think she is in charge.
Patti does not like the cold and wet and likes to snuggle up to Monty at any excuse.
Patti joined Monty oldest dog Nigel and his other Golden Retriever Nellie also known as Nell.
Nigel sadly passed away n May 2020 following a short illness and Nell passed away in October 2023.
Ned Monty newest Golden Retriever arrived to join them in September 2023 at 7 weeks old and Patti was not sure of the young boisterous pup at first.
They now get on well or at least Patti tolerates Ned!
The Dogs from Gardeners’ World are just as popular with the viewers as Monty himself and what is going on in the background often overshadows the actual gardening!
Patti now taken a more off camera role in the Don household but still makes appearances on Monty Don social media.
After Monty Don moved the Doghouse which was part of his RHS Chelsea Flower Show Garden in 2025 to Long Meadow, his followers on Social Media assumed that something tragic had happened to Patti.
Monty as her tribute to his dogs Patti and Ned he had their names engraved in stone which forms part of the path to the Dog House and his followers assumed this is because Patti had passed away?!
Patti is very much still with us and most recently national papers confused the passing of another one of Monty Dogs, Peggy with poor Patti!
Patti is a bit of a Diva, not liking the rain or cold and I am sure she happy as a lapdog out of the limelight on a nice warm, dry cushion acting like the princess she is!
