In this episode 3 of Christine's Garden Series 2 we meet Christine Walkden  at her home in Harlow Essex, who introduces us to the programme by saying "I love gardening - I do not like it - I eat it, sleep it, drink it, dream it".

Christine has been a gardener for over 35 years and her life is fantastic and she never wants to do anything but gardening and horticulture.

She says she lucky to earn a living doing this.

Garden Rescue returns for Series 7 on Monday 09 May 2022 on BBC1.

This series sees the departure of some of the Programme most popular ever Garden Designers, The Rich Brothers Harry & David and Arit Anderson.

Still remaining is the Garden Designer that has been in the Programme the longest Charlie Dimmock who has been in the programme since it was first shown in 2016.

Chris Hull

Chris Hull is Gardener, an Award winning Garden Designer and a TV Presenter on Garden Rescue.

Chris grew up in Tavistock, Devon surrounded by countryside and his mum was a keen gardener and his step father was a Forrester. 

His first job as a teenager was at a local hotel working in the garden and became more interested in gardening from the Head Gardeners there.


Chris attended The Cornwall College Group and studied Countryside and Wildlife Management before attending Sparsholt College Hampshire where he graduated with a BSc (Hons) Garden Design Upper Second Class.

Chris has been working as a landscape Garden Designer for more than 10 years and worked for several Garden Design Companies before starting his own in 2019  Greenbook Landscape Design 


From little Acorns

At the age of 27 Chris Hull was one of Pro Landscapers 30 under 30 winners in 2020 as up and coming Landscape Designers.


Garden Design Team

Chris Hull joined the Garden Design Team in Garden Rescue Series 7 which is first shown on Monday 09 May 2022 on BBC1 in an afternoon slot.

Chris first appearance was in Episode 4 which was shown on 12 May 2022 when he designed a 50's inspired fairy garden!


He joined long time Designer Charlie Dimmock who has been on the programme since 2016 and Designer Lee Burkhill aka the Ninja Gardener who joined Garden Rescue in 2021 for Series 6.

The last Designer who was also new for this series is Flo Headlam.


The previous Garden Designers Arit Anderson and The Rich Brothers Harry & David both left in Garden Rescue Series 6.

In 2025 a new Garden Designer Amelia Bouquet joined Garden Rescue Series 10.

Amelia Bouquet's,  garden designs and presenting style proved to be very popular with the viewers and as the series went on it also became apparent she was very pregnant, it is not clear whether she is to remain on the team.


Garden Rescue is to have its biggest change to its format in 2026 Garden Rescue Series 11 when 4 new Garden Designers join the programme to compete to win the winning garden design.

The 4 new Garden Designers for Garden Rescue Series 11 are Diarmuid Gavin, Frances Tophill, Joe Swift and Sue Kent.


Chris Hull has appeared several times in the Gardening slot on  Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh from 2024 to present.

Chris Hull and Sid Hill designed Bowel Research UK The Microbiome Garden for RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 and this won a Gold Medal.


Chris Hull is an Ambassador for the charity  Rethink Mental Illness and this is something very personal to Chris with his Father having Schizophrenia.

He advocates for better understanding of Mental Health and the benefits of Gardening and wild spaces on Mental Health and Wellbeing.


Chris Hull gives talks not only on Gardening and Garden design but also the benefit for Mental Heath and Wellbeing. 

Chris in 2023  got married to Zoe who is an interior Designer, they a young child named Jude and a dog called Stella and are based in Exeter

Flo Headlam

Flo Headlam

Flo Headlam is a Horticulturist, Garden Designer and TV Presenter on Garden Rescue.

Flo parents came from the Caribbean and gave her an early insight into gardening as they grew their own vegetables 

She had her own garden and enjoyed all aspects of gardening including the digging which she still finds therapeutic. 

Flo career path has been varied and she started by studying and  in 1994 obtained a BA in African Studies from the London School of Oriental and African Studies.

Flo became a professional Dancer, she then spent  over 20 years working in the charity sector including work for Comic Relief.

A change of career saw Flo study general horticultural studies  and in 2012 she started work in the Gardening Industry before going on to obtain  a Diploma in Garden design at Capel Manor College, Regents Park, London in 2017.


From little acorns

Flo Headlam first appeared as a TV Gardening Presenter for Gardeners' World in 2017 and appeared on the programme until 2019 and was the Programmes first Black Presenter.

In April 2022 Flo Headlam was announced as one of the 4 equity ambassadors for The British Association of Landscape Industries to promote positive change and improve accessibility for everyone into the landscape industry.


Flo Headlam joins the Garden Design Team on Garden Rescue in Series 7 which was first shown on Monday 09 May 2022 on BBC1 in an afternoon slot.

Flo first appearance is in Episode 6 which was shown on Monday 16 May 2022 designing a Gothic woodland garden.

She is joining long time Designer Charlie Dimmock who has been on the programme since 2016 and Designer Lee Burkhill aka the Ninja Gardener who joined Garden Rescue in 2021 for Series 6.

The last Designer is also new for this series and it is Chris Hull.


The previous Garden Designers Arit Anderson and The Rich Brothers Harry & David both left in Series 6.

In 2025 a new Garden Designer joined the team for Garden Rescue Series 10 and Amelia Bouquet proved very popular with the viewers.

Amelia proved to be popular not only for her Garden Design ideas but also as the series progressed it became more obvious she was very pregnant.

Garden Rescue Series 11 in 2026 will see the biggest change to the format ever when 4 new designers join the programme to directly compete against the existing Garden Design Team.

The 4 new Garden Designers are  Diarmuid Gavin, Frances Tophill, Joe Swift and Sue Kent.        
                                
Flo Headlam writes for the Gardeners' World Magazine as well as gives talks.

Flo is passionate about the benefits of gardening for everyone for their both physical and mental health and the importance of Community Gardens.

Flo lives in South London and has 2 daughters
