Kate grew up on the outskirts of Birmingham and had a back garden that was half an acre which she spent a lot of time in looking for worms and watching birds.


Kate appears on Autumn Watch, Radio 4s Gardeners' Question Time, and writes for various publications like The Guardian and Gardeners' World Magazine.

She is patron for amphibian and reptile charity Froglife and  Bumblebee Conservation Trust, and is the Garden Ambassador for Butterfly Conservation.

His first job on leaving school was as a Christmas Tree cutter.

Lachlan at 17 studied for a National Certificate in Horticulture at Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) in Dumfries.

Lachlan went on to pass a RBGE Diploma in Plantmanship, Applied Horticulture, Horticulture Operations, General at the Royal Botanic Garden n Edinburgh.

Chris grew up in Tavistock, Devon surrounded by countryside and his mum was a keen gardener and his step father was a Forrester. 

His first job as a teenager was at a local hotel working in the garden and became more interested in gardening from the Head Gardeners there.

Beechgrove 2022 which was shown on BBC2 Scotland and then repeated on BC2 and on the iPlayer.

Last year the introduction of The Beechgrowers 2021 was not popular with some viewers but this filled the gap left by the presenters being unable to travel due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

Broadcasting from their own gardens and recorded by themselves the Beechgrowers shared tip and advice and we followed them through the growing season.

Returning for its 44th year the programme is becoming increasing popular in the rest of Great Britain and is to be repeated twice a week on BBC2 on a Friday night before its main rival  Gardeners' World  as well as its usual Sunday Morning slot.

Rekha Mistry is a Gardener, Blogger, Writer and a new presenter on Gardeners' World 2022 making her debut on 18 March 2022.

Rekha who grew up in Zambia where she enjoyed helping out in the garden and growing produce with her Mother.

The family moved to the UK when she was 19 years old.

Rekha decided on a new path from running a bathroom Showroom for her business to going back to study horticulture with The Royal Horticultural Society gaining an RHS Diploma in Horticulture .

Monty welcomes us to Gardeners' World 2022 and the new season by planting a tree for the Queens Jubilee as part of the The Queen's Green Canopy.

A new presenter for 2022 is Rekha Mistry who grew up in Zambia is an Allotmenteer from Harrow, London who grows to cook and her plot is like a supermarket for food she enjoys.

With a background in photographic art Steve obtained a degree from the University of Wales Newport followed by a qualification in horticulture from Broomfield Hall in Derbyshire. 

In 2017 Steve graduated from the Cotswold Gardening School in 2017, where he now teaches as  a lecturer, with a focus on the creative process and innovative approaches to ecological design

Steve has his own Garden Design Company  and is also part of a design team for London Glades.

Tayshan Hayden-Smith is a Garden Designer, Presenter, Semi Professional Footballer and Founder of Grow2Know who was born on 23 September 1996 and brought up in North Kensington.

He was brought up by his single parent mother Nancy with his 3 siblings, his mother was diagnosed with Cancer and sadly died when he was 23 years old.

At 13, Tayshan Hayden-Smith started trials for various football clubs after starting playing at just 3 years old his passion for football grew.

Tayshan became a young dad at 17 years old.

He had trials at Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Watford - and also spent a season in Austria playing for FC Kitzbuhe.

Christine's Garden was first shown on  BBC2 on 30 December 2005 with just 6, 30 minute episodes and ran for 2 series.

The series was repeated on BBC2 in January 2022 bringing this charming programme and memories back to our screens.

The programme features Lancashire lass Christine Walkden in her 1950's ex council house and garden in Harlow Essex with the background of constant plane noise from nearby Stanstead Airport.

This seems an unlikely location for the Horticulturist / gardening expert with over 35 years experience to make what turned out to be a popular and much loved gardening programme of its time.
