The Great Garden Revolution

The Great Garden Revolution

The Great Garden Revolution was first shown on Channel 4 on 01 May 2021.

This new garden makeover programme was in a Saturday night slot which is unusual for a gardening programme but was also available on More4.

The 4 part series featured Joel Bird from Shed of the Year and more recently Your Garden Made Perfect who concentrates on the hard landscaping of the garden buildings or structures.

The soft landscaping is designed by Ecological Gardener Poppy Okotcha who is a model turned Horticulturist who has recently appeared on Gardeners' World 2021 Episode 2.

Craftsman Bruce Kenneth who has appeared on Money for Nothing and Mend for Money designs and builds the garden furnishings.

Series 2

The Great Garden Revolution returns for a second series which was first shown on Saturday 21 May 2022 on Channel 4 sees the debut of Errol Reuben Fernandes replacing Poppy Okotcha.

The 4 part series again featured Joel Bird and Craftsman Bruce Kenneth.

The programme visits a different garden every episode for the transformation as well as visiting a celebrity in their own garden.

The programme is sponsored by a well know garden paint company and every opportunity for product placement is used and at times it felt like one long advert!

It relies strongly on the hard landscaping and furnishings for the WOW factor with the planting schemes designed around that.

The garden planting and ideas are aimed at the new gardener and give the basic of a planting and choosing the right plants.

The Great Garden Revolution is another garden programme to feed the new interest in gardening and improving your garden because of the Covid-19 lockdowns but it does leave you wondering if the gardens are being designed just to promote the paint products?
