Poppy Okotcha

Poppy Okotcha is a model turned turned Horticulturist and Ecological Gardener who was born in London in 1996 but spent her early years in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The family moved back to Wiltshire, England when she was 12 years old.

Her mum was always growing food for the family and when they moved back to the UK they made a garden together and she gained her love of the natural world.

On leaving School Poppy moved to London and spent 6 years working as an international model for major Brands like Zara, Chloe and Vivienne Westwood.

Poppy wanted a lifestyle change from the stressful, fast paced life as a model and  Studied for a Level 2 in Horticulture at Royal Horticultural Society qualifying in 2019


From little acorns

Poppy appearance on Gardeners'  World on 20 August 2020 was recently shown again in Episode 2 2021 and featured the houseboat she lived on for 4 years with her partner, Architect Toby Burgess and her 3 legged Cat Meeja.

Every possible space on the houseboat deck was filled with plants and produce and demonstrated that in the most smallest and trickiest places, it is possible to grow enough food you need. 

On 1 May 2021 a new makeover gardening programme, The Great Garden Revolution appeared on Channel 4 and alongside Poppy Okotcha it also features Joel Bird and Bruce Kenneth.

The 4 part programme sees Poppy design and creates the soft landscaping for the garden makeovers

Poppy also writes for various magazine Columns and articles as well as the RHS podcast she also volunteered at several Community Garden Projects.

Poppy Okotcha now lives in Devon with her partner Toby Burgess.
