Manoj Malde

Manoj Malde was born in Kenya in 1967 and moved to Great Britain aged just 4 years old. He is a Garden Designer, writer and public speaker.

As a child he used to help his brothers in their vegetable patch in his parents garden.

Manoj studied Art at the Royal College of Art achieving a MA in Art, London  and his initial career path was as a Design Manager in the fashion industry which took him all over the world.

He trained as a Garden Designer at the English Gardening School bringing his experience of colour and design into his gardens.

In 2010 he started his first Garden Design Company Couture Gardens Ltd and in 2017 following a successful garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show he changed the company name to Manoj Malde Garden Design.

Prior to having his own garden at Chelsea Manoj worked on gardens for Diarmuid Gavin, Chris Beardshaw and Nick Bailey.


From little acorns

Manoj appeared as a Garden Design Contestant on Channel 5 Great Gardening Challenge in 2019 alongside Mark Holman who he worked with for his medal Winning RHS Chelsea Flower Show garden with in 2017.

Unfortunately they did not win their round which was to design a garden at a Veterans Care Home but they were the only contestants to bring a dog with them and the garden was stunning.

Your Garden Made Perfect

In 2021 Manoj Malde features in a new type of gardening programme Your Garden Made Perfect which was first shown on BBC2 on 04 February 2021.

Presented by Angela Scanlon as well as Manoj Malde it features award-winning garden designers, Pip ProbertTom Massey and 
Helen Elks-Smith also for small spaces Joel Bird.

Manoj has appeared on Gardeners' World, is a public speaker and is training to be a RHS Judge.


The programme returns for a second series on BBC2 on Friday 04 February 2022.

Presenters 2022

Angela Scanlon returns as the presenter as well as Garden Designers Tom Massey, Pip Probert and Helen Elks-Smith as well as 2 new Garden Designers Steve Williams and Oliver Bond.

The budget small garden Designer Joel Bird is replaced this series by new Garden designer Tayshan Hayden-Smith.


Manoj Malde next appearance is on Garden of the Year which is a new 6 part Gardening Programme first shown on More4 on 22 August 2022

Garden of the Year

Manoj is joined by Zoe Ball and former Young Horticulturist of the year Lachlan Rae as fellow Judges.

The 6 part series sees the Judges visiting different regions to judge 4 gardens and scoring each garden with the winner to compete in the grand final to find The Garden of the Year for 2022.


In 2023 Manoj Malde and his partner Clive Gillmor became the first couple ever to be married at the RHS Chelsea Flower show.

What was more special about the Hindu wedding ceremony is that it took place in Manoj own garden entry for Chelsea, the stunning The Eastern Eye Garden of Unity.

Manoj is an RHS ambassador for inclusivity and the 2023 Chelsea Flower Show theme is diversity and inclusion.

Manoj and his Husband live in Hertfordshire.
