Garden Rescue 2024 Series 9

Garden Rescue 2024 Series 9

Garden Rescue returns for Series 9 on Monday 29 April 2024 on BBC1 in the afternoon slot and repeated the next morning on BBC2 early morning.

The series this year starts a month early and it will run for 35 episodes.

Leading the Team of Garden Designers is the longest member Charlie Dimmock who has been in the programme since it was first shown in 2016

Returning is Garden Designer Lee Burkhill AKA The Ninja Gardener  who first appeared in Garden Rescue 2021 Series 6.

The last 2 members joined the Team in Garden Rescue 2022 Series 7 are Flo Headlam  and Chris Hull.

This 9th series sees a change in format I have hoped for from a Garden Makeover show, in Episode 9 Charlie revisits some past gardens to see how they have developed and grown.

With the full programming not released yet I hope this is not a one off in the schedule and the revisited gardens include a memorable Italian inspired garden from Series 2, 7 years ago.

This will be an interesting insight into how the gardens have changed and how the owners have enhanced them.

Garden Rescue Landscapers

The rest of the released scheduled programmes seem to be following the same format of a small budget of roughly £6,000 for materials only, the designers create a design based on their ideas or needs, and the home owners decide on the winner.

The losing designer then helps create the garden, the contractors do most of the hard landscaping, we get small snippets of 'how to' and plant information, before the grand reveal.

The Designers and the Landscapers on Garden Rescue always feel more of a team than other shows with some of them becoming well known faces who often appear on other programmes like Love Your Garden .

The garden owners  ideas follow the usual format, Cottage Garden, memories from a holiday, wildlife inspired, child friendly, Coastal garden and flower filled oasis.

With the average new build garden makeover of porcelain / Indian sandstone patio, a couple of raised planters and a new lawn costing approximately £10,000  - £20,000 the programme only works as there is no labour included in the budget or it would be a very small makeover!

It is the designers that make the programme still relevant, which each of them bringing a different design element and style to the programme along with a Landscaping team that deliver to the design.

The afternoon slot is ideal for this style of gardening programme, whether you are interested in gardening or not it is easy watching entertainment,  to sit down with a cuppa and maybe get some ideas or inspiration for your own garden.
