Errol Reuben Fernandes

Errol Reuben Fernandes is Head of Horticulture at the Gardens at the Horniman Museum, an Artist, a Garden Designer and the new Garden Design expert on the second series of The Great Garden Revolution .


He grew up in West London and his mother was a Florist and keen gardener and Errol has always enjoyed gardening.

As a child with his brother they were taken to visit various Gardens as well as regular trip to Plant Nurseries.


Errol has a background in Art after studying both for BA Fine Art, De Montfort University then an MA Art Psychotherapy, Goldsmiths, University of London


His horticultural qualifications include a RHS Diploma in Horticulture from Capel Manor College 
and a Botanical Traineeship, at the Chelsea Physic Garden.

He then went to work at  Kenwood House on Hampstead Heath as Senior Gardener.


In 2021 he became 
Head of Horticulture at the Gardens at the Horniman Museum which is 16.5 acres and includes a prairie garden, a tropical collection under glass and a sunken garden that dates back to the 1930’s.

Errol Reuben Fernandes debut on he Great Garden Revolution second series which was first shown on Saturday 21 May 2022 on Channel 4.

The 4 part series features 
Joel Bird from Shed of the Year and recently Your Garden Made Perfect who concentrates on the hard landscaping of the garden buildings or structures.

Craftsman Bruce Kenneth who has appeared on Money for Nothing and Mend for Money designs and builds the garden furnishings.


Errol Reuben Fernandes made his presenting debut on Gardeners' World 2023 on 13 October 2023 when he visited The Hepworth Wakefield Garden  


In 2025 Errol became the new Community Gardener Team Member with Alan Titchmarsh on his Gardening Programme Alan Titchmarsh's Gardening Club Season 2 2025 which was first aired on Monday 10 March 2025 at 2 pm.

Errol first appears in the Episode 1 when he visits a Community Garden and holds a Eco Workshop.

We meet Christine Walkden  at her home in Harlow Essex, who introduces us to the programme by saying "I love gardening - I do not like it - I eat it, sleep it, drink it, dream it".

Christine has been a gardener for over 35 years and her life is fantastic and she never wants to do anything but gardening and horticulture.

She says she lucky to earn a living doing this.
